For the warmest seasons of 2011 the Spanish brand Mango has chosen to continue their fruitful collaboration with Scarlett Johansson who is the spokesmodel for the brand since 2009. The advertising campaign was shot at the Casa la Ricarda in Barcelona by Mario Sorrenti. The campaign is certainly an interesting one not only due to the outfits presented but also because of the look change made by the actress who has traded her gorgeous long locks for a sleek simple bob hairstyle. Asked about her collaboration with the brand the actress expressed her appreciation for the brand as well as for the team she worked with: “Yes, it was awesome working with Mango. I loved working with the entire team, I think we had something very good in working with Mario, with the team of makeup, hair and styling.”
The campaign, called Modernist Resort draws inspiration from the 70s, one of the main trends of the moment on the most important runways. The looks displayed are fairly casual yet have an elegant allure. Simple and balanced, the looks presented are easy to pull off. Prints, very subtle ruffles and pleats as well as a certain navy influences seem to be the main style suggestions made by the brand which embraces a retro '70s vibe this season. Although accessories are used the to create interest they are kept relatively discreet. Moreover, accessories seem to have a functional role above all as they provide little contrast to be considered focal points. All in all the campaign is certainly an interesting one as it emphasizes the idea that simplicity in style can be a wonderful alternative as long as you pay attention to various details.
