Dakota Fanning Marc Jacobs Oh Lola Perfume Ad

I will deliberately ignore the Juergen Teller photography characteristics (full flash power straight in the eyes of the subject) and discuss the idea of the ad. Which would be… what exactly?
Dakota Fanning for Marc Jacobs Oh Lola Perfume looks like a statue. Lifeless, expressionless, on a pink background, wearing a lovely lace dress. And the oversize Oh Lola perfume bottle between her legs. That’s really a classy pose! It’s like a 4yo was trying to make a Tom Ford – like ad without really getting the pun and the aesthetics of a TF commercial. How exactly is this ad supposed to be appealing?

The Style Evolution of Avril Lavigne

Since making her splash onto the pop scene at age 17, Avril Lavigne has gained attention for her signature rocker chic look. The blonde songstress has toyed with skater style, gothic glam and full on glam to create a look that's so totally Avril. Check it out!
Skater Girl
At the 2002 MTV Music Video Awards, a 17-year-old Avril Lavigne won best new artist clad in a pair of oversized camouflage cargo pants. Avril paired the jumbo-sized pants with her then signature tank and tie combo. A wristful of spiked and studded bracelets completed her bad girl look.

Stripes and Studs
In 2006, a polished Avril attended the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Awards in a strapless striped dress. In black leather pumps, the newly platinum blond singer balanced her feminine look with a studded belt.

Cannes Glam
Avril Lavigne looked stunning at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival in a floor length striped gown. The full on glam look was a definite departure for the punky singer, who paired the striking dress with perfect blond curls, leaving the ties and studs at home.

Low-Key Lady
At the 3rd Annual Hollywood Awards, Avril kept her look low-key in a pair of black slacks. She paired the casual pants with a brown parka, studded belt and shimmering pumps. Although the look itself may have been slightly confused, her gold waves and smoky eyes looked fantastic.

Mad About Plaid
Avril returned to her punk roots at the Maxim Hot 100 Party in a pair of plaid pants paired with a black vest. Avril went heavy on the accessories with a black statement necklace, studded belt, striped hoops and plastic bracelets. Red and pink bow-adorned pumps were an unexpected addition to the look.

Red Carpet Rebel
Avril maintained her punk rock aesthetic at the Teen Choice Awards. In a plaid mini skirt, high top sneakers and pink streaked poof, Avril showed her commitment to the rock and roll style.

Sequined Songstress
Avril struck a balance between girly and rock and roll at the 2007 Latin America MTV Awards. Dressed in a black sequined strapless dress, Avril stayed true to her roots with a pair of studded Converse sneakers. Avril's pink streaked hair and skull and crossbones necklace finished off the red carpet look.

Beauty in Bronze
Aside from the pink streak in her hair, Avril's look at the 2007 American Music Awards was a definite step in a more sophisticated direction. Avril sizzled in the ruched bronze dress that skimmed her petite figure.

Striking Violet
At the 2009 Rock To Erase MS fundraiser, Avril looked girly in a flirty purple frock featuring sheer black mesh overlay. Avril went for a matchy matchy look with sweet purple pumps adorned with satin lavender bows.

Abbey Dawn
Avril turned on the charm for the launch of Abbey Dawn's Spring 2010 collection in a full sparkly dress with studs and tulle galore. Side-parted ringlets and crimson lips finished off Avril's sensational cat walk attire.

Avril in Wonderland
Avril chanelled Morticia Adams at the premiere of Alice in Wonderland in a dramatic black floor length gown. Avril, who designed a special line of Abbey Dawn T-shirts inspired by the film, complemented the goth glam look with new black lowlights in her blonde mane.

Sweet and Smiley
Avril beamed at the cameras in an adorable strapless LBD. Avril added shine to her darling look with metallic silver pumps and a matching wrist full of bracelets. A bow ribbon in her hair complemented her girly transformation.

Avril's Fave Red Carpet Look
When we chatted with Avril, she revealed that this graphic print Dolce & Gabbana dress was her favorite red carpet look to date! We can't say we blame her, she looked stunning in the black-and-white mini, which she paired with Giuseppe Zanotti booties.

Toying with Texture
At the 2011 Brit Awards, Avril held her own in a shaggy Julien Macdonald dress. The sequined dress featured a full textured skirt. Black satin pumps, a gleaming cuff and self-dyed neon streaked hair completed Avril's memorable red carpet look.

Punk Rock Princess
For the launch of her new album, Avril returned to her punk rock beginnings in a sequined and tulle dress by Betsey Johnson, which she paired with her favorite black Doc Martens. Red nails, black statement jewelry and a sassy pose completed the fierce look.

The Haute Couture Hairstyles of Nicki Minaj

We just can't get enough of Nicki Minaj's wacky, one-of-a-kind, ever-changing hairstyles! From rainbow stripes to cotton candy high-top fades, Nicki constantly reinvents herself with playful styles that are hand-crafted just for her. Check out the over-the-top hairstyles of Nicki Minaj!

13.Subtle Streaks
Back in her more demure days, the up-and-coming rap star opted for raven curls complete with her now signature Barbie bangs. A lover of all things pink, Nicki added fuchsia peek-a-boo streaks at the ends.

12.Green with Envy
Nicki loves her wigs! Often spicing up her inverted bob by changing the color, the intrepid star opted for a faded green bob while visiting the 106 & Park studios. It seems that Nicki can sport any hairstyle, as she looks fabulous in all shades of the rainbow!

11.Bride of Frankenstein
Miss Nicki seems to change hairstyles like most of us change socks and we love her for it! Onstage at the 2010 BET Awards, Minaj channeled the Bride of Frankenstein with an electrifying hairstyle.

10.Carrot Top
The rapper captured everyone's attention when she wore a bright orange wig at the 2010 BET Awards. While Nicki can pretty much pull off any look, we much rather prefer her asymmetrical bob!

9.Pretty in Pink
Nicki continued to stop traffic with her animated style at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Bringing her Barbie alter ego to light, Nicki rocked a face framing bob with matching pink nails and lips.
8.Rainbow Bright
Never one to follow mainstream hair trends, Nicki sported a rainbow tipped bob for the release of her debut album, Pink Friday. Guess she couldn't settle on one bold color so she opted for them all!

7.Cotton Candy Girl
Upping the ante on her hairstyle antics, Nicki ditched her famous bob all together and managed to surprise us with a high-top fade circa 1992. The cooky rapper put her own twist on it with a bubblegum pink hue.

6.Beehive
Nicki gave her funky style a retro twist with a sky-high beehive while on a promotional tour in London. Even with her signature blunt cut bangs, her '60s hairdo proves just how versatile her look is.

 5.Spotted
It's blue, no it's green, no blond—actually it's all three! Nicki's camouflage printed wig made heads turn across the pond while she promoted her newly released album.
4.Percision Cut
Nicki rocked the stage at VH1's Divas Salute the Troops show in a little Versace dress with bright blue tights and heavy jewelry. The rapper took her hair to new heights with a bleach-blond coif in a unique sculpted shape. Subtle pink highlights gave her tips an extra pop of color.

3.Tipping Point
Niki Minaj was all smiles on the red carpet at the 2011 American Music Awards in an asymmetrical blond bob wig with green tips. Paired with an unique Manish Arora dress, Nicki's look was definitely a standout of the night.

2.Leopard Lady
Miss. Minaj never rocks one hairstyle for too long. The "Moment 4 Life" singer showed off her wild side with a teased Afro-pouf complete with a hair-raising black streak. Leopard print spotted bangs framed her face and were perfectly suited for her exotic print ensemble.

1.Platinum Barbie
Nicki showed off a more reserved side at the NBA All-Star Gala with a platinum blond layered hairstyle. While we love her crazy color combinations and funky wigs, it's nice to see her switch it up for something a little more mainstream.

Lady Gaga for i-D Spring 2011

As promised, Lady Gaga is wearing clothes inside i-D magazine’s “Exhibitionist Issue.” She’s also wearing her facial and shoulder prostheses, black lipstick, and what appears to be a blue vinyl trench coat.We love the spread, but mainly because of Gaga. The clothing is hardly dynamic and though we only have five images (and hopefully there are more), we only count two outfits. We need more!
Also, the idea of Gaga as a model is sort of oxymoronic. While Gaga certainly thinks out of the sartorial box, her outfits have been so increasingly fantastical so as to render them somewhat boring. In other words: models are meant to showcase the clothes — and Gaga can only really showcase Gaga. What do you think?

Rihanna For Vogue US April 2011

Rihanna channels her inner Ariel from The Little Mermaid on cover of the April 2011 edition of American Vogue. The singer was so excited about her cover, she tweeted it straight after the shoot. As Vogue covers are features are supposed to be confidential, I wasn’t surprised to see her tweet.I can see why she was so excited. She got to wear a stunning embroidered Chanel Pre-Fall 2011 dress on the cover which was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. The editors at Vogue didn’t try to portray Rihanna as anyone other than herself. She gives us sexy rock chic bad-ass attitude plus a few gentle shots of her skipping down the beach wearing Lanvin.
Rihanna wears a red hot Hervé Léger by Max Azria cutout swimsuit with Alexander Wang open-toe booties;
 A Chloé one-shoulder mesh dress
And a Donna Karan midnight-blue bodysuit
The April issue is called the “Shape Issue”, so Rihanna talks about loving her figure and hating the gym. Here are some extracts from her interview:
On cutting her hair and dying it black back in 2007: “When I cut my hair, the whole sound changed, my style changed.”
On her body: “Over the holidays, and even during filming, I realized that I actually like my body, even if it’s not perfect according to the book. I just feel sexy. For the first time, I don’t want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up. My body is comfortable, and it’s not unhealthy, so I’m going to rock with it.”
On going to the gym: “I hate going to the gym and doing it the old-fashioned way. I hate anything that’s too straightforward, too routine, too familiar. I get bored really, really quickly.”
