A Look Back at the Best Gowns at the Golden Globes

There are good Golden Globes gowns, and there are great Golden Globes gowns. While we wait with bated breath for the 2011 show, check out our favorite looks from recent years.
Angelina Jolie in St. John
Angelina Jolie channeled old Hollywood in 2007 as she walked the red carpet in a luxurious gray pleated gown by St. John. The dress' classic cut was unfussy yet chic and totally up Angie's alley. She even had the perfect accessory—Brad Pitt.

Olivia Wilde in Reem Acra
Olivia Wilde was absolutely ethereal in a frilly pale lavender gown at the 2009 awards. The Reem Acra design was romantic and feminine, giving Olivia a princess-like quality on the red carpet.

Evan Rachel Wood in Elie Saab
In 2009, Evan Rachel Wood drew a collective gasp of admiration with her choice of a decadent 1930s inspired black gown by Elie Saab. The dress featured a deep plunging neckline, daring low back and tiers of ruffles.

Sandra Bullock in Bottega Veneta
Sandra Bullock was a winner in more ways than one at the 2010 ceremony. She shocked with a bold shimmery purple gown by Bottega Veneta. The gown's unique color complemented her skin tone and was the perfect look to pick up the best actress award in.
Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive
Penelope Cruz was a Spanish princess in a delectable black Armani Prive gown in 2007. The tiered frock was reminiscent of the traditional Flamenco outfit, adding a subtle dose of Latin flavor to her look. Olè!

Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel Couture
Sarah Jessica Parker's strapless lace Chanel Couture dress from 2004 may have been one of her best looks ever—and that's saying a lot for a style icon. The gray was a unique color choice, taking the classic cut to a whole 'nother level. Totally daring, totally Sarah.

Eva Longoria in Reem Acra
There was no way Eva Longoria was going to blend in with her crimson Reem Acra gown in 2009. The strapless dress hugged her curves in all the right places and Eva looked every bit the Hollywood superstar.

 Zhang Ziyi in Giorgio Armani
Back in 2006, Zhang Ziyi was still a relative newcomer to Hollywood, but she wasn't about to play safe for one of the biggest award shows of the year! Instead she chose an eye-catching lime green dress by Emporio Armani and got major props for her bold choice.

Eva Mendes in Christian Dior
Eva Mendes was gorgeous from head to toe in 2009 with a white strapless Christian Dior gown. The dress contrasted beautifully with her tan skin and hugged her every curve, while the luxe turquoise necklace she chose was the perfect topper for her ensemble.

Natalie Portman in Vintage Chanel
Natalie Portman caught everyone's eye in the strapless black vintage Chanel dress she wore to the 2006 show. The dress itself was beautiful, but it was the way she carried herself with her pixie cut that had everyone talking. She's nominated for the best actress award for 2011.
