Hair Today

The Spring 2011 runways were a bit of a tease—big hair was all the buzz! Plus, side braids and ballerina buns continue their comeback. While spring may seem a bit distant, it's never too early to refresh your hair routine!
Bountiful Buns
The ballerina bun appeared in various textures and heights. Oscar de la Renta offered true elegance with a flawless high bun, while Zac Posen went for a top knot with loose curls. This look can be dressed up or down to fit the proper occasion.

Braided Beauty
Say so long to the classic braid: plaits woven into place put a fresh twist on this timeless hairstyle. Alexander McQueen and Locaste showcased woven locks that may be hard to duplicate, but are definitely worth the effort. Try mixing up the size and placement of the braid to instantly transform your looK

 Hair Play
Designers did not neglect the use of playful accessories. The key to this trend is to suit your individual taste, whether a gilded barrette or retro head scarf. Whatever your style, try these simple add-ons to liven up tousled locks or a smooth top knot.

Wet and Wild
Wet strands got a dose of gel that exuded a strong, sexy look in a simple way. The overall effect was a sporty-sleek style that is easily achieved at home. This look makes rushing out the shower and off to work an acceptable habit!

Beach Waves
Sometimes, less is more. This old adage was never more true than on the Spring 2011 runways where loose, natural hairstyles ran wild. The feminine look works for all textures and lengths.

But what about Bags?

With all the bag choices for Spring 2011, what is a gal to do? Luckily we've done the work for you by narrowing it down to the season's most delectable. There's something for everyone, from the glam to the low-key—don't you wish you could have them all?
Louis Vuitton
With all the bags Louis Vuitton sent down the runway for spring, it was hard to pick just one. But this one, with its elegant gold tassel and use of the house's print stood out among the rest. Simultaneously elegant and campy, this clutch is overt glamour at its finest.

Christian Dior
It was inevitable that the crazy prints and textures which dominated the clothes and shoes at Dior were going to make their way to the bags as well. For spring, last season's quilted tote was reinvinted with a fun and perky tie dye.
Chanel
Just when you think you've seen it all, Karl Lagerfeld ups the ante by presenting something new and refreshing. For spring, soft leather mixed with structured frames for a new take on the classic bag. Watch out, this one is going to have a waiting list for sure!

Dolce & Gabbana
The coolest fashion gals are the ones who exude glam without looking like they tried too hard. Case in point: this crochet bag by Dolce & Gabbana, which looks like you just randomly affixed a bunch of vintage pins to it—because you're just that cool.

Prada
Amidst the bright prints, monkeys and bananas at Prada there were some serious bags. Outfitted in similarly bright colors, these bags are definitely attention-getters. Go all out with color from head to toe or let your bag be the center of attention in a neutral outfit.

What to Wear in 2011

The runways never lack for inspiration to shake up our routine with covetable new styles. From fresh hair and beauty looks to haute handbags and embellished frocks, Spring 2011 brings something for every fancy!

Dressed to Impress
Monkeys and feathers and ruffles—oh my! Whatever your flavor when it comes to fashion, there's something for you this spring. Here are our top picks to send you straight to the top of the fashion food chain!

Bold Brights
Color is essential for spring and rest assured all the cool kids will be doing it. Designers including Proenza Schouler, Bensoni and Prada put only the boldest and the brightest shades on the runway. You might need to invest in a pair of sunnies for this one!

Luxe Neutrals
Don't ever say neutrals are boring, especially not for spring. Designers including Donna Karan and Chloe showed that even the most basic of colors can be glammed up. Using embellishments and texture, designers made these subtle shades into the most fabulous and luscious frocks.

 Punchy Prints
If you like being the center of attention, then this trend is for you! From contrasted abstracts to bananas and lemons, designers sent all sorts of prints down the runway in bold and bright colors—Prada made waves with monkeys and fruits, Christian Dior channeled a tropical vacation and Stella McCartney got a little citrusy. Take your pick of print and strut your stuff, because people won't be able to take their eyes off you

Go Sheer or Go Home
This trend isn't for the faint of heart. Emanuel Ungaro, Christian Dior and Thakoon were among the designers who opted for revealing sheers for spring. The looks ranged from peekaboo panels to full-on see-through styles. Make this trend wearable with pretty chemises and underpinnings that you won't be afraid to show off.

New Modern
Minimalist doesn't mean boring, especially not when Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein and Celine are concerned. While their peers were glamourizing their designs with sequins and ruffles, these designers were working on using sleek lines, intricate cuts and minimal embellishment. The result is sharply tailored looks with modern lines that are every bit as luxe as their bejeweled counterparts.

Fancy Footwear
At Fashion Week, shoe designers showed everything from classic to opulent—and all worth a standing ovation. Check out Spring 2011's hottest shoes!

Alexander McQueen
The shoes at Alexander McQueen were awe-inspiring works of art. Architectural, decadent, breath-taking and too beautiful for words, they wouldn't look out of place in a museum or a castle. The fantastical creations take their cue from nature, with leaves, feathers and butterflies as the centerpiece. Alexander McQueen may be gone, but his vision lives on.

Lanvin
Alber Elbaz did it again—he created another unbelievably lustworthy shoe for Lanvin. At first glance, the mixed-material sandals with tough detailing teetered on impossibly thin heels. Then you realize they have a Lucite wedge to support them, adding another creative layer to the already-divine creations. Genius.

Prada
The tropical playfulness of the Prada Spring 2011 collection made for some out-of-this-world footwear. We particularly loved the swirly lace-up wedges with their pop-flavored treads, although the basket-weave detail on several of the pumps and platforms was highly covetable, too.

Rodarte
Super sculptural gold platforms complemented the golden goddess look at Rodarte. Nicholas Kirkwood's strong sense of architecture seamlessly translates into this heavenly creation!
Diane von Furstenberg
Lavender curtain-like rope put a new spin on the spring's must-have lace-up sandal. A suede platform and a golden heel were the perfect finishing touches to this colorful heel!
